Today is Pasta Time again!

If you have already tried and enjoyed our Creamy Vegeroni Pasta, this time we bring you yet another healthy variety of our homemade recipes! At Kusinang Bicolana, we never tire of sharing with you delicious food that’s both easy to cook and budget-friendly. That said, now we’ll prepare homemade pasta with common ingredients we can simply pull out from our kitchen cabinets. That’s right! We’ll be cooking Pasta noodles with Century Tuna.

Background

You must have already learned from our previous pasta recipe many trivia about our star today— that it originated from Asia and not Italy, that it now comes in different shapes and sizes, and many more. (If you forgot all those, you can always check out our previous recipe.)

This time, let’s talk about canned tuna! Do you know that the first ever this was up in the market was more than a century ago? This was back in 1904, and since then, sales have massively increased. Why not? It tastes good, and it doesn’t easily spoil! Plus, it’s not at all expensive and is [almost] always readily available in stores.

Is canned tuna healthy?

While the fresh one is, of course, healthier, canned tuna contains nutrients the body needs, too. Among these are omega-3 fatty acids, which make one less prone to having heart disease. It also promotes brain health.

Cooking Tips

* We were no longer added included in the main instructions and the video on how to cook the pasta noodles, but since you might be wondering how to do it right, we’re adding it here as a bonus! If you’re a starter, don’t sweat it. It’s very simple!

– Boil water in a big stockpot. (Yes, use a large one! More water allows the pasta to cook better.)

– Add salt.

– Add the pasta noodles, and cover the stockpot.

– Once the water boils again, stir to keep the pasta noodles from sticking to each other.

– How long you cook the noodles often depends on the brand, so please check the packet for instructions. This normally ranges from 5-8 minutes. Regularly check to get that al dente perfection!

– Drain, let it cool and set aside.

Getting you hungry, let’s get cooking!
