Background

Since the Philippines is an archipelago, which means we are of many islands, and islands mean oceans around us, it is no doubt that Filipinos are so into seafood! Shrimp, just like fishes and other edible seaweeds, is one of the most common catches for many Filipino fishermen across the country. That is why, as Filipinos being known as food lovers and food experimenters, it is no shock that garlic buttered shrimp came into the picture.

Is it safe to eat garlic buttered shrimp?

Garlic buttered shrimp has always been a favorite of everyone but always eat with caution especially when you are allergic to the shrimp itself. It is important that when you gulp and enjoy its delicious taste, you know your limitations and whatnot. This is also true for other food.

Is it also good to use soda for this main course?

While soda has also been used by some, it is still recommended to use fresh lemon for a perfectly delightful taste for your garlic buttered shrimp. Soda is okay, however, we suggest a healthier diet for you.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure that you get a really good quality of shrimp. Since this is the main ingredient, it is important that you choose fresh and tender seafood. Supermarkets have frozen shrimps and some were already pre-cooked, but if there are fresh and newly-caught shrimps nearby, I recommend that you consider the latter as it is always good to prepare a good one. But, if frozen shrimp is what’s available, thawing it is a good idea. Just have it inside a bowl and allow water to run for about five minutes.
  • Now that your garlic-buttered shrimp is ready, it never hurts to have an additional side dish for some extra delightful flavor and texture. Here are just a few of what you can actually add: mashed cauliflower, garlic ginger bok choy, cauliflower rice, or fresh coleslaw. Now, it’s more than extra special.

Getting you hungry, let’s get cooking!
