    Step by Step Instructions

    Step 1

Heat a large pot of water with oil and salt and bring to a boil, then add the spaghetti noodles. Follow the cooking instructions on the packaging. Separate a cup of the water, we will use it later to make the sauce.

    Step 2

As the pasta cooks, let’s get everything else ready. In a separate bowl, add the shrimps, crushed garlic, chili flakes, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and salt & crushed pepper. Stir until well combined.

    Step 3

In a pan over medium heat, add cooking oil. Cook the shrimp for 2 to 3 minutes or until it’s pink in color.

    Step 4

Now we can add the spaghetti noodles. Stir until well combined and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Now we can add the water to make it saucier.

    Step 5

Garnished with freshly chopped spring onion and chili flakes. Ready to serve.

    Quick & Easy Pasta Recipe

This quick & easy pasta recipe is a fantastic weeknight meal that tastes like it’s from a five-star restaurant. Made with seafood marinara mix (shrimp, fish, calamari, and mussels), and fettuccine pasta tossed in an herby tomato sauce, this pasta dish is dinner on the table in less than 30 minutes.

While seafood pasta may sound fancy and all, in actual fact, it is a super quick and easy dish.

Simply make the tomato-based sauce using fresh tomatoes and tomato paste, throw in the seafood marinara into the mix, and top it over cooked pasta, and voila!

Now you don’t have to spend a hefty amount on special meals for fine dining because you can actually make it at the comfort of your own home.

Dinner date nights? Look no further. This seafood marinara fettuccine is one for the books!

    Reason Why You’d Love This

I could go on and on on the many ways why you should make this quick & easy pasta recipe. But here are a couple of convincing reasons why you should add this recipe to your weekly menu.

    • Prep time is at a maximum of 15 minutes (that includes cooking the pasta).
    • This recipe mostly uses easy-to-find ingredients.
    • The cooking method in this seafood pasta dish is pretty straightforward.
    • It comes ready from the stovetop to the dinner table in less than 30 minutes.
    • Last but not least, it tastes so good that you’d think it came from a five-star restaurant.

    quick & easy pasta recipe

    The Sauce

There’s nothing complicated in making the delicious tomato-based sauce for this pasta recipe. I kept it simple by using fresh strawberry tomatoes and tomato paste as the base. Then a dash of parsley flakes, dried oregano leaves, and fresh basil leaves for that scrumptious herby flavor profile.

But I think what really took this seafood pasta dish to the next level is using a high-quality seafood marinara mix.

    What does seafood marinara mean?

Seafood marinara is simply a mix of different seafoods including small shrimps, or prawns, pieces of diced fish filets, calamari slices, and mussels. You can buy them as frozen packs at seafood stores and supermarkets.

Quick & Easy Pasta Recipe Variations

    • Can’t find seafood marinara mix? Use whatever seafood you have on hand. If you have freshly caught ones, the better.
    • As for the parsley flakes, feel free to omit them if you don’t have them handy, and just add a tad bit of dried oregano on top of what the recipe originally calls for.
    • Basil has a unique and peppery flavor. With that said, it’s worth finding in this recipe. But if you can’t, swap it with fresh oregano. It doesn’t have the same exact flavor profile as basil, but it works in a pinch.
    • You may swap water with less-sodium chicken or seafood broth.
    • Feel free to replace fettuccine with spaghetti, linguine, or any long pasta.

    Cooking Tips

For a perfect seafood marinara pasta meal that is as good as its restaurant counterpart, here are some of my cooking tips.

    • Always make sure to use high-quality brands that you can trust for your seafood mix and pasta. It’s totally worth the money!
    • Do not overcook the seafood. The last thing you’d want is a rubbery overcooked seafood mix. It’s like pouring your money down the drain.
    • It may not be common, but if you can’t get enough cheese, add a sprinkle of grated cheese on top instead of basil.
    • Serve this delicious pasta meal with wine and some bread to mop up the sauce. Now that’s my kind of dinner!

Easy Made Breakfast Recipe Filipino Style

Easy Made Breakfast Recipe Filipino Style

Kickstart your morning with a serving of this egg and beans breakfast recipe Filipino style. With just six simple ingredients (seven if you like it with cheese), you can easily transform your canned beans into a hearty breakfast meal that could also double up as lunch and dinner.

Although we Filipinos enjoy complex flavor-loaded dishes, we’re also a big fan of canned meals, especially on busy days.

And canned pork and beans is one of those household names that we can’t get enough of.

Instead of eating it straight out of the can (like how most of us would usually do), you can jazz it up and turn it into a hearty breakfast recipe Filipino style by poaching eggs on top and simmering it.

Think of it as the Filipino version of a Middle Eastern dish Shakshuka but way simpler than you could think of!

    Ready to get cooking? Tara!

What is Canned Pork and Beans?

Your childhood isn’t complete if you haven’t tried eating Hunt’s Pork and Beans straight out of the can or served on top of white rice. It can’t get any better than that!

Hunt’s canned Pork and Beans (the most popular brand in the market) is, as the name suggests, made with Great Northern Beans and pork bits (pork fat to be exact) in a rich, thick, and sweet tomato sauce.

This American canned classic pork and beans, alongside corned beef and Vienna sausages, has won over the hearts of many Filipinos. No wonder it’s a kitchen staple!

Do Beans and Eggs Go Together?

Eggs and beans are good together. Each of them brings important nutritional values to the table, but together, they’re one heck of a pair! Especially if you’re a vegetarian.

Eggs are protein-rich, and have some of the important B-vitamins, while beans on the other hand provide fiber, good carbohydrates, and protein, too.

Feeling a little sluggish? This combination provides the nutrient boost that you need.

Egg and Beans Breakfast Recipe Filipino Style Variations

Our simple breakfast recipe starts with simmering the canned pork and beans in sauteed garlic, onion, and tomato mixture. Then added on top of it are three whole eggs covered until cooked.

You can either serve it that way, or add some grated cheese on top and let it melt for a few minutes.

    Isn’t it quick and easy?

But if you feel like going the extra mile, here are some of the variations that you can do with this easy eggs and beans recipe.

    • Saute chopped chorizo or bacon along with the onion mixture.
    • Want more veggies? Try to throw some diced bell peppers into the pan.
    • Throw in cooked and chopped ham or hotdog. Kids would surely love this.
    • Got some canned corned beef? You may throw it in before adding the canned beans.
    • Diced potatoes or some chopped parsley are also great topping replacements for cheese.
    • For those who love a little heat, feel free to add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper, depending on your preference.

    Cooking Tips

    • I like to crack my eggs in a glass before adding them into the pan. This method ensures perfectly intact egg yolks, but it also keeps your dish off any cracked egg shells and most especially bad eggs. (We don’t want that in this dish.)
    • Try making deep pockets in the bean mixture before adding the eggs if you want them fully set.
    • Serve this dish as is or with crusty sliced baguettes on the side. Sarap!

    Seafood Corn Soup

    Seafood Corn Soup

Feeling cold because of the rainy weather? No worries! We got something to make you feel warmer: soup!

If you already had a taste of our Special Macaroni Soup, here’s something new: Seafood Corn Soup! We’re bringing you the flavors of the sea in a thick, creamy, and tasty soup. You can try this as an appetizer or as a main dish for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Oh, any time of the day, actually. Surely, it will become a family favorite!

Corn soup, as its name suggests, has corn as its main ingredient— sweet corn to be specific. It can be cooked either sweet or salty depending on the ingredients used. The usual ingredients added in are egg, flour, butter, and of course, water. Herbs and spices such as garlic, onion, salt, and pepper are also added for flavoring.

In the past, it was made only in countries where corn was abundant, but now, it’s prepared almost everywhere. So, through time, people from one place to another have included other ingredients apart from the usual ones such as fish, chicken, pork, and many more, creating multiple versions.

Is there an alternative for corn on the cob?

If corn on the cob is not available, don’t worry! You can just simply grab frozen or canned corn at any grocery store. Both of them work in this recipe.

What is best to pair this soup with?

As a snack, the corn soup can be complete without any other sides with it, but if you’re really looking on having a full stomach, a crusty bread would never go wrong! You may also pair it up with a healthy salad.

    Cooking Tips

    • To make the soup creamier and tastier, you may add half of the corn along with the seafood while simmering and then mix and blend them all together. After, you may add the other half.
    • You can enjoy this corn soup for two to three days. So, if you have leftovers, store them in airtight containers and refrigerate after three to five hours of cooking.

    Pancit Canton Guisado

    Pancit Canton Guisado

Ever heard of the dish that gives long life? While there is no proof that this is true, what we’re sure is it’s the perfect merienda! We’re serving Pancit Canton Guisado today— a special one because it’s cooked with a great amount of love and tradition!

This Filipino signature dish is simple and tasty often served in sunny afternoon and even in birthdays or other gatherings. Read on and bring out the best in your ordinary recipe. You and your family will wholesomely enjoy this dish that is homemade, festive, and cooked with a lot of Filipino love.

    Background

Pancit is thinly made rice noodles that has originated from China. During the visit of Chinese settlers, it was introduced to the Philippines. The native noodles were then adapted in our culture’s cuisine and was further improved by Chinese-Filipinos over the years.

Pansit Guisado is stir-fried noodles with sautéed vegetables, aromatics, and protein. This festive dish is often found in classic Filipino and Chinese restaurants in the country and can also be seen in karinderias and other food stalls as a ready-to-eat dish.

How do you preserve left-over pancit?

You keep pancit from spoilage by setting them aside in a container with a lid. Do not cover the container while the dish is still warm or hot; doing so will make them spoil faster. Preserve them right and it will last for about three days.

Do you soak pancit canton noodles?

Some recipes require soaking the noodles in warm water for about 2 to 3 minutes, but in this recipe, it is best to just rehydrate the noodles so as not to get them mushy quickly as you cook. Just drain in running water and then set aside.

    Cooking Tips

    • As you add the canton noodles, stir them once in a while to avoid the strands from sticking to each other.
    • If the noodles have already absorbed all the liquid from the cooking pot but the noodles are still not tender, you can add water.
    • Need more time cooking your noodles? Set aside the cooked vegetables and meat in a separate container to avoid overcooking them, as you give time for the noodles to be cooked the way you want them.
    • Want to try another type of pancit? Check out our Special Bihon Guisado.

    Homemade French Fries

    Homemade French Fries

French fries should be easy to cook, but it does take a lot to consider when achieving the perfect fries! Good thing this homemade recipe on Crispy French Fries would come in handy for you and your next cravings.

While easy to find in fast food chains and stalls, nothing else could taste as best as the one cooked with the heart! Plus, you’re sure it’s hot and fresh before serving as a snack at the comforts of your own home!

    Background

French Fries, or in some cases, known as finger chips, was originated from France. It was said that it was invented when a man had an unexpected visit from the Queen, with no food prepared or available besides potatoes, the man had no other choice but to serve it chopped and fried. Thus giving origin to the all-time favorite, French fries.

Is it okay to cook French fries with potato skin?

Yes, leaving the potato skin on shows off a russet visual of the fries. It also gives more organic nutrients as compared to the inside of the potato.

What is the best dip for fries?

Fries and catsup will always be a classic tandem. Others were able to elevate the dip with a mix of catsup and mayonnaise.

Why are my fries not crispy?

Fry them for another round. It does take time to dry out that excess starch from the fresh potatoes.

    Cooking Tips

    • Potatoes should be rinsed with cold water and soaked in saltwater to remove excess starch from the potatoes. Let it sit for about several minutes before frying.
    • To make sure that the oil is well-heated, you can make use of a toothpick or any solid handle to test if the oil is already hot. Droplets of water will also do, a drizzle in the pan should be a sign that the oil is ready.
    • French fries should take 5 to 6 minutes of frying in medium heat with occasional turning. The fries will automatically float on top of the oil as a sign that they are cooked, but it is best to let it float for about a minute or two.
